My Professional Experience
I am a General Adult Psychiatrist with many years of clinical experience. I completed my undergraduate medical training at the University of Liverpool and went on to complete my psychiatric training within Central and North West London (CNWL) and East London NHS Foundation Trusts.
I hold a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry and am a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). I am also approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act by the Secretary of State as having specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders.
I have worked in psychiatry for nearly 20 years, with over a decade as an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist. Alongside my clinical work, I have held senior leadership roles, including:
Deputy Clinical Director, City & Hackney Adult and Older People’s Mental Health Services
Associate Clinical Director for Inpatient Services, City & Hackney
My experience spans multiple specialties, including:
Liaison Psychiatry
Early Intervention in Psychosis, supporting individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis
Rehabilitation Psychiatry, treating patients with long-standing psychotic conditions such as chronic schizophrenia
Community Mental Health Teams and inpatient wards
I have led inpatient psychiatric units for many years, and have particular expertise in supporting female patients through complex and acute mental health needs.
I am highly experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including:
Psychosis (schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, drug-induced psychosis)
Mood disorders
Severe anxiety disorders and PTSD
ADHD
Personality disorders
