My professional experience

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Prior to obtaining my Doctoral Qualification in Counselling Psychology with the University of East London, I completed an MSc in Mental Health at King’s College in 2005.

Since completing my training I have gained a wealth of experience working as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Psychological Therapist in a number of NHS and private sector settings where I provided individual CBT and facilitated groups for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I am trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and previously worked as a DBT team co-ordinator, co-facilitating skills groups and providing one to one DBT sessions to those with difficulties regulating their emotions. I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Mindfulness and Compassion-based approaches.

I specialise in the assessment and treatment of adolescents experiencing a range of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, including:

Anxiety | Trauma & PTSD| Social Anxiety | Depression | Relationship Difficulties | Obsessive Compulsive Disorder |Low Mood | Mood Swings| Low Self Esteem | Body Image | Anger Management | Impulse Control | Bereavement | Mild learning Difficulties | School bullying |Phobias | Alcohol and Drug Use | Self Harm

Personal Approach

As a counselling Psychologist I am trained in a variety of therapy approaches.  I adapt my therapeutic style and approach to meet each patient's own needsFollowing an initial assessment we will identify together the best therapy approach for you and identify together areas to work on in therapy. I will tailor the therapy to each patient's needs and preferences. I often see adolescents for 1:1 sessions however sometimes it may be helpful to meet with the young person and their parent(s) together or to meet with parents separately.

Additional information about my research and interests

My doctoral research focused on the therapeutic relationship in online therapy and I provide online therapy via Skype. I am interested in and strongly believe in the benefit of exercise on mental health.
