My professional experience

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with many years of clinical experience supporting children, young people and their families. I completed my medical training at the university of Newcastle Upon Tyne, before undertaking my Specialist training at St Mary’s hospital. I have practised as an NHS child and adolescent psychiatry consultant for over 10 years, working in generic CAMHS settings, Crisis and Liaison services and completing specialist neurodevelopmental assessments.

In addition to my medical qualifications I have completed further training in systemic therapy at the Institute of Family Therapy. I am qualified in the use of standardised tools for assessing Autism Spectrum Disorders, the ADI-R(Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised) and ADOS(Autism Diagnostic Observation schedule). In the course of my clinical career I have led a range of multidisciplinary teams, these have included leading a crisis team, an adolescent specific service, Neurodevelopmental clinics as well as generic CAMHS services.

I support children, young people and families with mild to severe difficulties (including anxiety disorders, depression and neurodevelopmental disorders).

Personal Approach

My practice is child-focused, ensuring the child or young person’s voice and their needs are at the centre of any piece of work. My systemic experience means that I place a strong emphasis on establishing robust relationships with families, allowing a collaborative approach to supporting children and young people on their path to recovery.
